    Highlights:
  • A new version of the Datasets Description manual has been finalized

A new version of the Datasets Description manual has been finalized. This is the manual that shows each field of each dataset, showing it's DASDL name, describing how it's used, COBOL picture and how it's updated. This manual is helpful when doing report writer's and ERGO or DMS/INQUIRY specs. The newly revised version:
  • Alphabetizes the data sets
  • Includes the accounting data sets
  • Includes all the new fields, new sets and datasets

Please call if you'd like this new WORD document (155 pages, 640KB) e-mailed or sent on diskette.

We've also completed a new little manual entitled "Special Topics and Procedures". This is a collection of write-ups that we've produced over the years to address areas that can seem a little complex at times. These write-ups have also been updated to reflect the most recent level of the POWER PLUS software. This manual is in the same vein as the Procedures Aid Manual, but has far fewer topics and much more discussion about each topic.

New enhancement recently completed: Adding fields for specifying the buyer or contact and phone number on the customer order header. It's often helpful to have, in addition to a PO number, the name of the person at the customer site who actually placed an order with you. Also, it's increasingly common that if the inside sales rep has a question on the order, the phone number to call is different than the main number for the customer or ship-to. Often times, it's a cell phone number or a pager, etc., at a job site. Your pick ticket print program could also be changed to print these new fields.

Laconia Electric recently began doing EDI with Square D. Laconia is using Kleinschmidt as their VAN.

Some interest has been expressed in having a Users meeting in late October or early November. Probably would be held at the Embassy Suites in Oak Brook, Illinois, again like the past couple of years. We could move to warmer climates though, if that's what people want to do. Please drop a call or an e-mail sometime to weigh in with your opinion.
