User News

BJ Electric recently went operational with the latest release of Unisys' Enterprise Output Manager (formerly DEPCON). EOM allows print files to be sent directly to users' PCs; where they can view the output and optionally print it on their local or network printer.

EOM also allows the emailing of the files. This can be helpful for sending reports to outside sales reps, customers or vendors.

Idlewood Electric Supply recently went live with EDI Accounts Payable Invoicing (transaction set 810). This can save on labor. Also, some buying groups are offering incentives for such processing.

Speaking of labor saving technology, Commerce Department statistics show that productivity rose by 9% in the electrical supply industry in 2007. One of the better performances among US industries. This is measured by inflation-adjusted sales per hour of all workers.

Hein Electric went live on printing labels for items that are not bar-coded, using the Wireless Warehouse. Barcode labels can be printed at the time of receiving, when cycle-counting, and when doing bin maintenance.

By implementing receiving first, a distributor can be assured of having most everything bar-coded by the time you get to paperless picking.

Laconia Electric Supply recently won an NAED Best of Best Award in the Events category. The award was given for their OctoberTech.
